The Oyaide system proved to be exceptionally smooth. To be honest, I think that even my reference setup wasn't this smooth or polished. This did not refer to any particular sub-range but to the audible spectrum as a whole. With the Oyaide system I got perfectly balanced flow without obstacles, irregularities or hoarseness. Whilst the Japanese cords will correct unnecessary brightness and graininess to a certain extent, the starting point is the system we have at our disposal.

With a system that's transparent, dynamic and highly resolute like mine, it was evident that the Oyaide system modified the sound in its own characteristic way. I heard this repeatedly and it was no different now. The sound had less resolution than with my usual Acrolink cords. The change was not as dramatic as going from a 1.000 Polish to a 10.000 zloty CD player but audible nonetheless. It defined the perception of the whole and gave the impression that after coming from the reference setup the sound had become quieter. I am almost positive that measurements would not show this unless we introduced an element dealing with energy spectrum analysis in particular sub ranges. We would see then what I heard – that everything seemed warmer and a bit calmer. The lower bass was shallower and synthetic bass from Random Trip particularly with 24-bit audio files played from the Ayon CD-3s + NW-T was focused a bit higher, mostly on the upper bass range. The upper midrange was smooth as sin. This would surface in all descriptions because it was the dominant sensation that lingered around after my auditions.

The higher part of the audible range was perfectly coherent and a bit stronger that with the Acrolink. It's why, despite being smooth and a little less dynamic that the reference, this sound was also very open. With badly set-up systems of too much treble we would be torn between the beauty of the midrange, the redolence and resolution of the treble (which is far above par) and the excessive energy of cymbals rich in hissiness which is the worst audio sin and thus should be avoided.

This wouldn't be the fault of the power cords but our system. With a properly set-up perhaps even slightly warm system the Oyaide will add a special treble quality without brightness or glare. In my case that something was an extra layer of improved selectivity. I had not complained before but the Tunami GPX-R power cord showed similar class to the super costly Siltech Ruby Double Crown. It was cohesive, smooth and, I will repeat, perfectly selective. One could kill for such a thing as it is an effect one won't simply reach by replacing components or speakers. We won’t arrive there by 'polishing' our signal cables either. Unless we arrive there by properly matching the power-delivery system all will be in vain. Without this match it might seem that Oyaide slows down the sound but in this way everything was alive and pretty.

Comparison with the ultra-expensive reference system (about 100.000 Polish) demonstrated how the costlier cords were still better. However even then Oyaide provided something uniquely of its own which spoke in its favor. If I take into account the overall class of the sound, the reference system fared better no doubt. But it became another story altogether when we consider generic computer cords with a generic power strip. Now Oyaide became the champion of champions. Now we fully appreciate the fluidity of its presentation and its smooth inner cohesion. There is nothing to irk or irritate. Even a pretty strong treble proves resolute and selective without being excessively detailed. The computer cables by comparison sound hoarse and primitive. The Oyaide champions aristocratic calmness and confidence of its higher status.

This calmness translates into imaging. With the Japanese cables from Mr. Satoru Murayama the images are big and saturated. Although ultimately not the most selective sound I know particularly in the midrange and lower regions, it still was highly resolved and hence very natural. The sound of an audio system with these cords will be well organized and easily approached. Their questionable lower bass and lower treble resolution as well as a bit of excess energy in the latter do require a home audition in your own system to decide if that's what you are after. I am 99% confident however they would have your vote as it is really difficult to find something else that reconciles these two seemingly contradictory factors of smoothness verging on warmth allied to a completely opened-up treble.
