"Once Adam and I had finished up all the whatabouts, engineering, subassembly run-ins and testing on the Presence, we decided to invite local Ogden hard core troubadour Dan Weldon to lend his skills and ears for voicing and system tweaking. He grabbed a car load of guitars along with his Porch Board and a few of his favorite microphones and drove on over. We spent a few hours each day for the next few weeks having Dan plugged directly into various iterations of the Presence.

"Tests and changes to the full-range driver, cabinet, super tweeter and network were all done with direct feeds coming out of Dan's mix - totally live, totally real. We were hearing changes and pinpointing ways to improve the Presence system so much faster this way, it honestly made the old method of exclusively using recordings and the typical studio playback rig feel rickety. Once we were all giddy with the sound, we plugged into the playback rig and sat back, completely taken with the results. It wasn't perfect (nothing is) but better in ways that could not have been realized or anticipated without using Dan's live feeds. We spent another month listening to various amps and other gear and sources to finish the voicing, tweaking things slightly to enhance the relationship between Presence and playback."
