It was the year of the Ram. People were stubborn and willful. In their midst appeared a saviour...
Not. Quite. Roger Modjeski does run Ram Labs. He is a bit stubborn and willful - when it comes to taking popular wisdom at face value, especially when it tries to tell him how much power to wring from a given output tube. For his new Music Reference 245.1 SET ($1,850 without power tubes), the rebellious Californian claims double the power anyone else gets from a 45. And that's not peculiar to the Emission Labs (left-most above) which could be said to no longer be a classic 45. It's equally true for the famous RCA globes, Cunninghams or Sylvanias. This circuit's apparently an equal opportunity employer. You supply your 45 of choice, it'll output 4 watts. As the published THD vs power graph shows, the EML tube will offer the lowest distortion into the highest output power. For the knob fiends, different power knobs are available, some of them limited-availability antiques. Feedback is adjustable from 0 to 15dB in 3dB increments.

Made in the US, priced fairly, designed and supported by one of our most knowledgeable tube designers - these are some of the attractions the 245.1 offers, never mind -- we'll presume based on Roger's prior track record -- excellent sonics and very good reliability. The first production run of these just birthed so interested parties aren't staring at vapor ware but real amps looking for homes...
